CLAY LESSONS

Learn to throw on the wheel, or take a class on the basics of handbuilding!

HAND-BUILDING

  • Use tools such as the slab roller, slump molds, cookie cutters, fabric, rubber stamps, etc to create items with 3-dimensional texture

  • Lesson is student-directed (2 students max), so you and the instructor will together choose what to work on

  • Former students have made: bowls, spoon rests, earrings, xmas ornaments, pinch pots, hanging plaques, etc.

  • Scheduled By Appointment Only

  • One hour long, class time permits making up to 3 pieces

  • $75 per person, includes lesson, clay, & bisque firing

  • Glazing is NOT included, but you are welcome to return at your convenience and simply pay a studio fee to use our glazes

  • All clay is low-fire white & must be glazed to be food-safe

  • Bisque firings are done on the 1st and 15th of each month

WHEEL-THROWING

  • Learn how to use the potter's wheel to center clay and form small vessels (2 students max)

  • This is a single introductory lesson and NOT part of a series. It is meant for students who have never thrown before.

  • If you have prior experience and merely want a refresher, simply let us know upon booking and the instructor will tailor the lesson to your needs

  • You may take as many lessons as you like if you want to build upon your throwing skills

Consider joining our Clay Co-op, where for a single membership fee you get a 25# bag of clay, use of all our equipment and tools, and all bisque and glaze firings are included for whatever you make with that bag of clay.


When your bag is used up, renew your membership for a new bag and start over again!
